Midnight Snacks

Sampler Platter cover by Beck Attack

Featuring music by...

Midnight Snacks is 20 years old, what even is this??? I can't believe I've been playing 2+ hours of music every week (WITHOUT MISSING ONE) for over 1050 weeks now... Anyway, doing a compilation has always been a plan, and what better time to finally pull the trigger than to celebrate 20 years? The IRL celebrations will happen in the future, let's go back to the roots of the show, with digital music on the internet. Everyone contributing to this compilation has been a part of Midnight Snacks in the past, either appearing IRL at club events since I started throwing them to celebrate the 10 year anniversary (omg how was that TEN YEARS AGO???) live in NYC, contributing to online events, or even just co-hosting with a guest mix or playlist! All of these "friends of the show", as I call them are absolutely amazing and I want everyone to know it. I started Midnight Snacks with the sole purpose of sharing music with people, especially things that I feel may not be as known as they should be. I believe my job is to help everyone find, appreciate and support amazing music. This website includes statements from all the artists, as well as social media links where to follow their exploits. I'll be including my own statements and samples of the tracks in the weeks to come before release.

The compilation will be releasing on Bandcamp on 7/11/2025 as a Pay What You Want release, with all proceeds going to the World Central Kitchen charity.

Give the brand new Midnight Snacks Bandcamp a follow for updates and to download the compilation on release.

Love, W.T. Snacks

W.T. Snacks
aka "The Host and Curator"

A name carrying much internet infamy, W.T. Snacks has been the host of his own weekly online radio show and downloadable podcast "Midnight Snacks" for the past 20+ years, showcasing a variety of music from around the world, often with an emphasis on the best electronic music from Japan.

Both solo and as half of the DJ duo SNACK ATTACK with DJ HYPE☆GIRL (aka Beck Attack, the de facto in-house illustrator for Midnight Snacks), he's spent much of the past half-decade taking the IRL anime and gaming convention scene by storm, performing live sets at dozens of conventions like Anime Central, Anime Expo, MAGFest and beyond. The internet has always been his home though, and he's performed nearly 100 online and VR events since 2020 alone.

No stranger to organizing in addition to DJing, he's been throwing parties in clubs and conventions all over America and even as far as Tokyo, Japan since 2015, starting with the 10 year anniversary of Midnight Snacks. Since then, his passion for sharing music prompted him to join on as an A&R for Attack The Music, a Los Angeles/Tokyo based label who are responsible for some of the best convention dances in the whole of America.

An all-mix DJ to the extreme, Snacks enjoys showcasing the breadth of his musical knowledge in his DJing style, dropping a multitude of genres, from reckless rave, panic pop, warp house, future club, and hybrid twerk, to irregular hi-break, candy hypercore, nu-style festival sound and underground international netstyle. Always looking towards the future while taking inspiration from the past, expect a journey through sound that will move your body like no other!

Beck Attack
aka "The Cover Illustrator"

Hello!! I did the album artwork, as well as other additional art for various Midnight Snacks productions such as the 10th anniversary and the POCARI FREAKZ album art. Midnight Snacks™️ is 20 years old now, and by extension that means Snacks-tan is 20, too. What would Snacks-tan, who is now an adult, be doing? Menial labor for minimum wage, that’s what. And that’s what I thought about when planning this drawing out.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that Midnight Snacks changed the trajectory of my life forever. I took a hiatus from drawing that I thought would be permanent but it’s all due to the love and care of an internet radio show + its community that pushed me to pick up the ol’ drawing pen again. Thank you for believing in me all this time!! and may all of our support carry Midnight Snacks another 5, 10, 20?! Years into the future!!! :lemoncringe:"

Hacky Snack

Back in 2006, I was a surly 16-year-old weeaboo without much interest in music. That all changed when I heard Midnight Snacks. Snacks opened my ears to completely new worlds of music. I was inspired to try making music myself, starting with a little freeware program called PxTone Collage, made by Pixel of Cave Story fame.

I made this track "Hacky Snack" in PxTone, as an homage to that time in my life, jamming to Midnight Snacks and making my own bloop bleeps late into the night. Without Midnight Snacks I may have never discovered so much wonderful music, or started producing myself. Snacks truly changed my life! Thank you for an amazing 20 years!!

TACOBELL'S NEWEST SNACK

My intro to Midnight Snacks was WTSNACKS reaching out to me randomly to do visuals for WAPPY NEW YEAR 2021! (Which is crazy to me cause it was only the second time I've ever done visuals LOL) So thankful for that because it allowed me to meet so many cool people and influenced me to try and be apart of a urlfest lineup as well! That same year I played my first urlfest and believe it or not WTSNACKS happened to be scheduled right after me LOL funny how the world works. I love how the community and people you bring on the show are so passionate about music! Being at the Midnight snacks party in japan last year and just talking to people about music was some of the best convos I had. Also b2bing with him for like 3 hours till first train just for the love of the game! And thats a perfect statement on what describes Midnight Snacks, they do it for the love of the game.

So for my track, I decided to pay homage to another pillar in my community, TACO BELL. I sampled some silly Taco Bell moments we all know and love and put it over Donks, Breaks, Skrillex, and even LIVE MCING! Hopefully it sits well in your stomach unlike a certain something.... just kidding we love you Taco Bell!

Uno Reverse Card Taped To Crash Cab Gravestone

The whole reason I'm here, right now, saying this to you is because I got sick in 9th grade. Bad case of mono took me out for 2 years, had to drop from school. Nothin better to do but lurk, wound up finding some kinda solace in Midnight Snacks of all places. Was in the right place, at the right time, on the right boards, and always had mad respect for the motherfucker SQ. Lots of great memories staying up late at night, waiting for the live shows, wanting to be there front and center rather than another archive digger. Calling in to leave voicemails on my iPhone 3G, listening the next day in hopes of hearing some kinda response. It was a moment that was highly educational about the communal aspect of music. Prior to that, my idea of music was just talking about it with pretentious dickheads on /mu/, who wore their taste on their sleeve as an accessory. Midnight Snacks is a huge part of the DNA that lead to this moment in time, where I was capable of making a song like this, of putting it out into the world, of feeling at home in a space where I still feel like a novice despite being described as an "OG" on the regular. Truly cannot thank SQ and crew enough for all the love they've shown me, for their friendship, for the time we've gotten to spend with one another at conventions, and for the occasional chat. A beacon of communal light shining from a relatively dark impact crater is a beautiful thing, ain't it?

To that end, that's what this song feels like to me. Excitement leading to Tension, Tension giving way to Release, and Release coming moments before a reflective Crash. The variety of experience crammed into a single 4 minute moment, building up, tearing down, and finding some kind of belonging in the rubble. I was also just trying to see if I could make ancient Massive presets sound cool, lol. Whenever you wanna punch a wall in excitement, but only wind up crying about all that you've lost from your own mistakes, I hope this track finds you and offers you something. It's a chaotic world out there. Might as well let that chaos flow through you, no matter how painful, eh?

Immediately after stumbling into a weird net music space I couldn't get enough of, I found a weekly stream that featured everything I was looking for. Insane props to W.T. Snacks to do this for 20 years straight. I played my first set at the 11th anniversary Midnight Snacks IRL event, and it's an absolute honor to contribute a new track for this compilation. This release comes a decade after my first EP, Radio Control, and the attitude behind Restart is that even as you grow, some things about yourself never have to change.

I'm not even sure I remember where I met Snacks... maybe blipfest? At a chiptune show where he knew my tinder date? Maybe he just showed up to DJPHANTASYCLUB one time and never left? It hardly matters, I met him once and then I could hardly go anywhere without bumping into him, in any city, any country, it doesn't matter. I've played shows with this dude on three different continents and he's still a total goober (non-perjorative). We've just been showing up at each others shows for over a decade and how it started I'll never remember, though of course his "weeaboo motherfucker" jacket will live on in infamy forever. Anyways, congrats on 20 years, here's to the next 200.

I don't know how to talk about my music well, I was really inspired by espgaluda, escaflowne, and dragon's heaven. I wanted to make a track that sounded like a moment to cry to in a bullet hell game

Shinra

Shinra is a jam from 2024 that I had fleshed out during a playthrough of FF7:Remake while doing scale practice where I found the main riff in a little jam I recorded on my Korg Radias, and I just felt like I had to add a 303. I wanted something shuffly, clubby, but very dramatic, ‘cinematic’ even. It’s one of the songs I’ve had during that year that made me feel crazy vindicated, and I’m always happy to find myself an expression that’s a little more expressive than the last.

Snacks picked this one up in a batch of other unreleased records I’ve made in the past 3 years and this one being picked makes me excited. Shinra is a really honest attempt at playing with my scales and sound a little further than what’s particularly just a ‘tech trance’ style. It’s a little goth, and it’s a little droned out. Additionally, Snacks and his function, Midnight Snacks, has that ear that I appreciate hearing from and appreciate seeing put other artists on who may not have the loudest platform, but a great sound. From music, shows to just general hangs, he’s been a good bud of mine that I love to hear from and see. I’m very grateful to be seen here and I wish for many more years of Midnight Snacks!

BOW AND ARROW x Quasar (BrainShit Mashup) [Kenshi Yonezu x Teddy Killerz]

I've been following Midnight Snacks since it's 8th anniversary after hearing JAKAZiD's set. Hard to believe that it's been 12 years since then and that Midnight Snacks has been running for 20 years overall. I was 11 then.. insane. Looking at the page for the 8th anniversary I forgot that Lil Texas also contributed a set. It's always been fun to tune in and discover new tracks and artists! Never been a dull moment. I always dreamt of joining one of the events at some point and I had the chance in 2024 to join an impromptu event in Japan at Asagaya Drift. Incredibly fun!

As for my mashup I listened to Bow and Arrow for the first time and instantly thought "this would work well with some neurofunk to spice it up" and it did! Kenshi Yonezu's voice just works with everything.
Very thankful to have been invited and able to provide something for this! On to at least 20 more years!

Back in 2019 Snacks asked me to play the Midnight Snacks showcase at MAGFest. I had never attended the festival before. That show significantly changed my trajectory as an artist, inspiring a change in my primary performance genre from Houston trap-inspired hip hop to rave/hard bass. It's safe to say without taking a chance on me back in 2019, my path in music would look very different.

GYOZA MAGIC

Hello there. I'm a non-binary Bangface-pilled deer gimmick idiot with a love for funny kick drum noises. I learned how to make the computer do stupid little sounds decades ago, and, god help me, I'm still doing it. Making these sounds has let me play in some wonderful places, ranging from as close as local English (sorry bruv its where im livin innit. mental) festivals like Bangface and Balter, to as far as Twisted Frequency in New Zealand.

Back in 2006 I made terrible music without knowing what an EQ is supposed to do, and naturally I lurked a bunch of forums trying to discover the next wave of Intellectual Brain Smart Genius Dance Music. That's when I discovered the Midnight Snacks radio, which I listened to fairly obsessively. It's been a great honour since to meet the W.T. behind the Snacks, become his friend, and even discover that he's been sneaking my stupid noises into his playlists. Thank you.

This is GYOZA MAGIC. I saw the DOROHEDORO anime, immediately fell in love and consumed the Manga in probably 3 days, and then while still in an autistic weeb ultrafixation, opened up ableton and made this sequence of kick drums in a way that I felt was very inspired by the vibe it gave me. Make of it what you will. Read DOROHEDORO though it's great. And feed me gyoza i love gyoza thanks bye

So Glad We Almost Made It

I first met Sq in 2012 at an Asto Nautico show I played at Free Candy in Brooklyn. He not only knew my music but after playing a track called “LeVar” I heard his voice out in the crowd yelling “But you don’t have to take MY word for it!” I knew then that this was a very special dude. I would see him from time to time at shows in NY (as well as randomly at a bar in Atlanta). Then during a trip to Japan in 2018, I fortuitously met up with him and we ended up hanging out every night (and well into every morning). He seemed to know everyone and every event in the Tokyo music scene and introduced me to people I never would have met otherwise at shows I never would have known about. Few people have a greater knowledge of or enthusiasm for music. The world is a better place with Midnight Snacks in it. Here’s to 20 more years.

Speaking of 20 years, here's a track that's taken half that time to get a release! MAAKEN
SO HARD

I want to thank W.T. Snack for giving me the opportunity to be included in this huge milestone. 20 years is nothing to laugh at and it truly shows how much passion this guy has for music. There's no doubt that in such a long life span there were many tough times to keep Midnight Snacks running but I bet the good times, the experiences, the memories, the fans and the people he has met through this made it all up.

In a time where pirate radio stations (pretty much) have died, Internet platforms that once used to uplift many artists lose their spark, traditional media (as per usual) playing the same top 100 tunes for the umpteenth time throughout the day, governments that are killing raves and clubs, it is a pleasure to still have outlets that put a spotlight and support artists out of pure love for the culture.

When W.T. Snacks messaged me and asked me to contribute a piece of music, I was deep down in my writer's block. Mental health and general life struggles made it impossible for me to enjoy the process of making music, like a lot producers before me I contemplated times and times again to retire from producing.

His request gave me a kick in the butt that I needed because I really wanted to be part of this to support W.T. Snacks back as a thank you for supporting back as a thank you for supporting me in the past past, by playing my tunes and so I struggled through it, did the best that I could in my current cond it was a song that I'm happy with for the first time in a long while. Sometimes it's "so hard" to give your all and see yourself fail countless times, in the end it's worth it when you finally ses the results of your labor.

Afterwords:
This all was Pretty dramatic and cringe but hey, as someone once said "they don't think it be like but it do".

Elk Wealth

I was made aware of Midnight Snacks through a rare transmission while I sat inside of the modest, moss covered pine log I call home. Comfortable in my tattered, Tiny Oversized Arm Chair, I had just put a Tiny Hot Pocket in my woodland creature-sized microwave when the walls of my home vibrated with the sounds of Deep Hard Kiques and Qlaps, Rare Jems and Ifradinensional Chune. It took at least a minute of adjusting my waistcoat and checking my pocket watch before I realized my heart was going 160 bpm.

Woodland cottage aside, I feel so blessed to have known SQ all these years: to have graced the 10th Anniversary stage, to have shredded so many of his MAG room parties and generally caused a ruckus with the man himself and so many other amazing artists - domestically and internationally. I feel eternally blessed to have collected as many SQs as I have. Midnight Snacks is a gawdam pristine piece of Internet Real Estate. We are all in a better world because SQ refused to take a week off. And for that, we are cosmically thankful. Bless Midnight Snacks. Bless 20 years. And I'll be there at 40. Long live the SQing.

This track is one I've held on to for a long time. Originally written in 2016 for MAG and Square Sounds Tokyo, it's probably the best kick I ever programmed. This shit went hard af at Koenii High and I hope you enjoy it now. And if you do, there's a bit more of it coming your way soon. For the first time, live and direct.

キューティーハニー dub

My introduction to Midnight Snacks was catching the "SNACK ATTACK" set at Anime Central Synergy 2019.

SQ was one of the first DJ's that I heard really champion the anime and doujin music sound in the West. That set at ACEN was a primary force for getting me into DJing and SQ's mutli-genre mixing style has definitely greatly influenced my own.

At the time, I was just getting into rhythm games and doujin music, and in the years since then, its been incredible getting to meet and work with a lot of the folks who inspired me.

Its awesome to look back on the history of Midnight Snacks and see how active the project still is today, huge congrats on 20 years!

I made "cutie honey dub" with the idea of anime cons in mind. Its the kind of fast and loose bootleg you'd find on SoundCloud while digging for tracks to add to your bin the night before. It's crazy to say but Cutie Honey is probably a "deep cut" to most nowadays. This remix exists for probably like one person, but I hope that one person pops off at the OP and then proceeds to die laughing at the bass drop.

SQ and I first met an eternity ago on Soulseek, a couple of digital crate diggers swapping tunes and enjoying the kind of anonymous camaraderie that it's much more difficult to find online these days. In the years since, our paths have crossed many times, both IRL and within the realm of ones and zeroes. One thing has remained constant -- a shared love of electronic music and, more specifically, artists from the underground pushing music in interesting new directions.

My track for the 20th Anniversary compilation, "Sludge Dub" collapses decades of my own musical evolution into a single point -- mutating and combining elements of chipmusic, breakbeat hardcore, acid, and dub. I'm grateful, once again, to have the opportunity to share some of my work alongside so many other talented artists and friends.

Big up SQ and others like him, who are so passionate about the music they love and share it with an infectious enthusiasm. I'll glady take that over an algorithm any day of the week.

Happy 20th Anniversary! Truly legendary!
Big thanks for playing my tracks over the years—really appreciate the love!
The track I've contributed this time is an unreleased one I made back in 2017.
It’s got that trancey texture, deep bass groove, and a solid RAVE vibe—hope you enjoy it!
Here's to many more years of spreading good vibes to the dancefloor and beyond.
Congrats again!

Somehow still alive to see Midnight Snacks hit 20. Mr Snacks or deafmind as I originally knew him. deafmind was a valuable regular at the #// IRC channel where bedroom IDM era was still a new and pulsating thing (2000-2004 or so?) and I am pretty sure I never banned him.

Mr. SQ, who often hangs out with me at parties in Japan, you must be living in Japan now!
And Midnight Snacks is celebrating its 20th anniversary! Congratulations!

I hope you continue this wonderful project, and I want to listen to it for the rest of my life.
I made this 250bpm track with that feeling in mind. It's full of love!

By the way, what kind of "Snacks" do you like?

If You Wanna (Relect Edit) [Perfume]

Has it already been 10 years since I first met Midnight Snacks and SQ?
We threw parties together at R Lounge, hit up events in Shibuya after drinks in broken English, and kept talking about releasing tracks that never saw the light of day...
So many great memories.
Congratulations on your 20th anniversary!

Here's a bootleg of that track by the legendary Japanese producer "Y.N" and the iconic group "P" — hope you enjoy it!

Midnight Snacks are absolutely a posse that crossed the path with RoBKTA various times even helping in sharing the music around in the form of live performance recordings. They have been absolute homies and top supporters and to celebrate their 20th anniversary, I figured I'd unleash a neo arcade racing game jam! We heading down the highway travelling at 150 BPM with maximum horsepower with pure Ridge Racer energy!

Down on my luck, my wallet emptier than a bag of chips after a midnight munch. I’d blown my cash on bad bets—overpriced coffee, a sketchy online course, and a internet bill that hit like a brick. By midnight, I was broke, my bank account crying louder than one of my busted speakers. I flopped on my couch, the city lights outside winking like they knew I was cooked.

Desperate for a pick-me-up, I opened my phone and found Midnight Snacks, an internet show pumping out banging electronic music. Snacks, the host, didn’t say much—just dropped a quiet, “Let’s eat,” like a chef serving a hot dish. Then the live mixes hit, each one a juicy blast of sound from different artists. “Hungry for a banger?” the show’s tagline teased. “Midnight Snacks is your late-night feast, so dive in!”

The first mix was a hardcore techno explosion, slamming like a sugar rush on steroids. Another was a glitchy EDM set, crackling like pop rocks in my brain. Every beat was a tasty morsel, feeding my soul when my pockets were starved. For a moment, I forgot my bills piling up like a bad buffet. Midnight Snacks was my savior, turning my broke blues into a rave. I danced in my living room, vibing like I was rich in rhythm.

But, yeah, I still went bankrupt the next week. My bank account? Crumbled like a stale cracker. But those nights with Midnight Snacks? Worth every penny I didn’t have. The show was a buffet of bangers, each mix a spicy snack that kept me hungry for more. I might be broke, but I partied like a king till the lights went out.

It's been a while since I've shared my music with anyone but I had to come back for a project like this! Midnight Snacks really helped me get my start at DJing, so I thank them wholeheartedly for this opportunity.

"LUV U TRU" is a French House track with a Future Funk influence. I try to make music that makes people feel good. Hope you Enjoy! 💯

I've been ghost mixing Midnight Snacks for the last 20 years, you're welcome, can't wait to pass the torch to SQ and let him finally take a crack at it.

This track was on heavy rotation in the late 00s when I would play breakcore parties in Detroit several times a year. It's 212 bpm, which I'm assuming was a reference to Steel Reserve that got rounded up for mixing purposes.

2AM Ramen

Congrats on the 20th year anniversary!
I’m honestly very honored to be included in this comp, alongside many "senpais" of the internet music scene I respect.
I only met Snacks last year during his visit in Japan, but I feel like we got close pretty quickly while going to multiple parties together.

Huge shoutout to W.T. Snacks himself for booking me earlier than most organizers in the local scene here in Japan, and helping me get started in DJing.

To commemorate, I made a footwork-oriented 160 track called "2AM Ramen".
I think this tune is perfect for colorful vibes that Midnight Snacks has, and I hope that anyone who relates to this theme gives it a spin!

I really do think I'm the luckiest dumbass in the world sometimes. Sure, I haven't made it big and reached the upper echelons of the music industry or have really found any profound and repeatable successes, but for the friends I've gathered and kept over the last decade, I can't be too upset about it all, and one of those chance encounters lead me to SQ and Midnight Snacks almost a decade ago.

So like here's a really truncated story: over a decade ago I was an attention-seeking nobody who lucked out and said the magic words to someone and grew closer with them in the months that followed. At one point, they randomly message me outta the blue inviting me to a thing called Magfest, and I had no clue what it was, but given that life's short and it could be fun, I went for it. Shared a hotel room with a dozen of the most online people for a weekend and if not this year then the year after, I met SQ along the way during the convention. Their energy was so infectious, an energy I very rarely see now but was completely alien to me in the moment. I remember talks about the radio show they did, but my mind was moving a mile a minute at the time, it was hard to recall it all. Even harder to do so today, but I digress.

Years pass and me and SQ still hit each other up like clockwork, they let me know if a song of mine is played on a particular night and I always get so jazzed up because of it, and lately we always try to let one another know about shows if we see them in town and try to rendezvous, but more often than not, we randomly collide into each other without warning. The hugs hit better when you aren't expecting them.

As for the song, it's nothing that special honestly. I had this whole thing written up about how I shopped this thing to other labels and how it was rejected from a bunch of compilations before, and how important it is in rejection, but honestly? I just got incredibly mentally and physically ill and couldn't make anything truly unique for the program in time that was of quality. So here's this thing I made in 2021 that I still really enjoy, despite it not being all too much like my current output. Sorry, SQ! I'll get you something bespoke for the 25th!

Much love to Midnight Snacks for being the platform for so many weirdos and freaks to just play their music and be themselves, and a gigantic thank you to SQ for letting me stick around all this time, I wouldn't be where I am now with out you.

Back in the early days, the show was a big part of my exploration and deep dive into different genres.
The way it would surprise with interesting, weird and fun entries always was a treat and it was what kept me coming back for more.
The show really is like an entrance into inspiration land, and it still keeps that energy of surprise and exploration after all these years.

For this song I decided to bring it back to my oldschool days, a throwback to the kind of music I was making back in 2005.
I was all about ambient beats, guitars and slow fadeups back then, something to build texture and let the listener slowly soak in the elements.
The looping vocals proclaiming "it's not the same", but some things really never change and stay with us even 20 years later.
It is the slow dance of life, we are all spinning round and round down the mortal coil together.

S3X SL4V3

The story behind S3X SL4V3 is a strange one. In 2018 I released a Bootleg remix of a song with a similar name. Snacks played it on his radio show and tagged the original two artists featured on the track. The smaller of the two artist’s management emailed Snacks to say “hey, that was a super cool remix where can we find that?”

Snacks handed over the link and I was immediately hit with a takedown notice. This absolutely didn’t sit right with either of us. Eventually, the story was shared on the subreddit of the second larger artist and that artist actually said “Fuck that person, they’re a nobody. You’re good”

This version of that bootleg is essentially the same except it’s mixed and mastered better, hits harder and contains no elements of the original track. The vocals were done by me. This for all intents and purposes is a cover of that song. Copyright strike me now, * * * * Records

Runner (This Unit Must Survive)

Runner (T.U.M.S) is track that came from a concept that I had originally sketched up in Ableton to pass some time while on a train ride up to Detroit in the spring of 2022 built around some sampled bits from an episode of Star Trek TOS. The bit that it samples comes from an episode called ‘Ultimate Computer’ in which Kirk manages to verbally convince an AI computer turned rogue to eliminate itself for the crimes it has committed. Upon first hearing it in context, I thought I knew just exactly what had to be done. This was something that I felt could go off in the function with just the right kind of cut up.

This project actually is a second version of the concept that I originally sketched out some time ago. The original version only got so far in its existence as a project in my Ableton folder due to some creative block. However, a short while after I made a decision to purchase a Digitakt (mk1) and upon realizing what it was fully capable of for sampling, I decided to give the entire idea a second revision from scratch and was quickly very stoked on the difference that was made by simply applying a different set of limitations and capabilities towards the process of creating a track. I have been sitting on it for some time but when Snacks approached me looking for tracks for the MS20 compilation I somehow immediately thought of this one. I felt it was finally time to share it with the universe at large.

decoupled soul unbound

Midnight Snacks was first introduction into internet radio. Being a long time listener, my girlfriend introduced me to the show and have been listening ever since. It is by far one of the best places to tune in and be given excellent recommendation for new tunes.

"decoupled soul unbound" came about one early morning during the winter after performing a virtual set for ghostclub. The sense mystère and disconnection from this world and being transported to a place in the non-physical provided the inspiration that produced this limbotic track.

Crate Dig

After catching numerous Midnight Snacks radio shows around 2007 as a teenager aimlessly lurking the internet, I was super stoked to be a part of their 11 year anniversary show, as Midnight Snacks had always been a central source of new music to me, whether it was j-rock, hardcore, j-core, or just music I had never thought to seek out before. Being a part of a 20 year anniversary compilation is a great honor and commemorates a large portion of underground music history that needs to be celebrated.

Crate Dig is my homage to the underground "weird hardcore" sound I grew up with, reminiscent of the early works of artists such as Sampling Masters Mega & Aya, Weasel Busters, and "free tekno" party mixes. It is a high-speed frenchcore and hardcore techno-influenced song mixed with forward-thinking and more futuristic effects.

Magnetize All Coins

Congratulations Midnight Snacks on this monumental anniversary! I've had a wonderful time sharing my music on the Midnight Snacks live stream and hope to bring a similar style and energy to this compilation.

"Magnetize All Coins" is a footwork lullaby with a heavy happy hardcore influence. The metallic bells and chimes that are heard throughout the song are the main inspiration for the track's title. Also, government is planning to magnetize all the coins at the Denver Mint in the coming weeks. It will interfere with 5G quite a bit, so live it up right now if you can.
